Do you already have an Etsy store, why should you move over to your own website, here are 4 reasons why.
For small creators and sellers, Etsy is an amazing platform to start and develop your business. It takes care of all the behind the scenes work, so you can focus on developing your products for your customers. But there comes a time where you will need to move away from Etsy and onto your own platform. Here are four reasons why you should think about moving.
Etsy charges you 9% + 20p for every sale that you make. Which when you aren't selling much is a cost that you can easily swallow, but once you start growing your business and selling more, this cost will quickly grow into £100's of extra costs that you could really do without. Moving to your own Shopify store means that you will receive a lower transaction fee of 2.2% + 20p. To put that in perspective, for a £10 product on Etsy you will pay £1.10 in fees, but on Shopify, you will only pay £0.44p, that's a 76p saving, meaning that for every 10 products you sell you have an extra £7.60 in your pocket.
If you didn't know about Etsy's adverts I wrote a blog post on it here but to save you the time, Etsy will advertise your product for you and will charge you for this privilege when you make a sale through the advert. This charge will be 15% of your total sale, (this fee goes down to 12% when you hit $10,000 in sales). This charge is ONTOP of your transaction fee, which means for that sale, you will be charged 24% + 20p. So to take our £10 product mentioned earlier, if a customer found you through one of Etsy's adverts you will be charged a whopping £2.60 for that sale!
While Etsy allows you to have some control over the look and style of your Etsy store and products, Shopify will allow you to have complete control over everything (except the checkout) meaning if you want to make your website neon green with red writing, you can - though who knows why you would want to do that!!!!!!
Don't you hate it when you look at your product, and underneath Etsy will show you similar products from other sellers, meaning that your potential customer could see something else and not buy from you! Well, on your own website, you only have your own products -unless You choose to stock products from other sellers, which means that you are less likely to lose customers, and more likely to sell more, plus a lower transaction fee means you get more money, and who doesn't like that!
So what do you think, are you ready to make the move. Well, we have created a package just for Etsy sellers like you, meaning you can get all of the above benefits and more at an affordable rate. Click here to find out more. We look forward to hearing from you.
